Made in India iPhone X production to start from July 2019

Apple is finally starting the manufacturing of iPhone X from July 2019 at Chennai manufacturing unit. A long awaited made in India iPhone dream is now true for Indians, the manufacturing at the Chennai factory is all set to start manufacturing high end iPhone X. After a long planning phase Apple is starting manufacturing iPhone X from July 2019.  With this move company is supporting Make in India movement of Govt. of India.

The production of iPhone will be done by Foxconn Technology Group, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer. The Foxconn Technology has setup their manufacturing unit at Chennai in over 160 acres of land.

Apple trail production of iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR seems successful. Now Apple will start production of iPhone X at Chennai production facility. The assembly of iPhones will soon begin, starting with iPhone X.

As per the media report close of ongoing proceedings, “Foxconn will begin with the iPhone X (range) from the Chennai plant. The plans are to step up production capacity and diversify to even higher models going forward.”

Further mass production of iPhone in India depends on the incentives and favourability offered by the upcoming government. For the last 5 years PM Modi Government started various initiatives to increase the technological capabilities of India and started Make in India initiatives to bring top start manufacturing in India.

The manufacturing of iPhone X in India will certainly bring down the cost as it will save taxes. This will also bring more employment in India.

In the recent past (in 2019) the import o Apple’s iPhones shrunk to half as compared to 2017 imports. The reduce cost of iPhone X in India will certainly increase its sale in Indian market.

There is no official information about the price cut for upcoming made in India iPhone. Company may announce any such cut after its success in mass production at Chennai manufacturing facility.

If there is any price cut of made in India iPhone X then the sales this phone might increase in Indian market.

But in recent months there is no chance of price cut for iPhone X in India. There may be price cut but  Apple is expected to reduce the price of old models of iPhone like iPhone 7.

Apple has already started the production of iPhone 6s and iPhone Se models in a plant which is run by Wistron. The Wistron plant where these phone phones are in production is near  Bengaluru.

As per a data research done by the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association, 290 million smartphones were assembled during 2018 in India. If we compare with the 2014 productions it is huge increase in capacity. In the year 2014 only 58 million units were manufactured in India. During the last 5 years, India achieved a big goal of manufacturing mobile phones in India.
